ICGEE Executive Board

 

The current members of the board are listed below.

  • Prof. Jim Greer, Tyndall National Institute, National Coordinator of the ICGEE Programme

JimGreer - TyndallJim is Head of the Electronics Theory Group and Head of Graduate Studies at the Tyndall National Institute with more than 120 students. His research programme focuses on atomic scale simulations for nanoelectronics including molecular and semiconductor nanowire simulations. He is on the editorial board of Microelectronic Engineering journal and Lead Principal Investigator for ICGEE and INSPIRE national GREPs.

  • John Power BE CEng FIEI, Engineers Ireland, Independent Chairperson to the Executive Board

JohnPowerJohn Power is Director General of Engineers Ireland. Prior to joining Engineers Ireland in September 2007 he was Head of Corporate Affairs at ESB. Before joining ESB, he was a Technical Advisor with General Electric in the USA and in South America. John is a graduate of UCD, holding a Masters in Industrial Engineering and an MBA. A native of Tralee, he is also Secretary of the Irish Committee of the World Energy Council.

  • Prof. Gerald Farrell, Dublin Institute of Technology, Chair of the Programme Committee

GeraldFarrelGerald Farrell is Head of the School of Electronic & Communication Engineering at DIT. His research is focused on the area of Photonics, in particular Optical Sensing. He is the Director of the Photonics Research Centre at The DIT.


  • Prof. John T. Sheridan, University College Dublin, Chair of the External Relations Committee

johnsheridanJohn joined the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University College Dublin (UCD), in 2000 as a College Lecturer.  In 2005 he became a Senior Lecturer, and in 2007 Professor of Optical Engineering within the UCD School of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering. He currently acts as Deputy Director of the UCD Communications and Optoelectronic Research Centre and also of the SFI Strategic Research Cluster in Solar Energy Conversion.

  • Dr. Fearghal Morgan, National University of Ireland, Galway, Chair of the Graduate Committee

fmorganFearghal has been a Lecturer Electrical & Electronic Engineering, NUI Galway since 2007. He spent almost two years as Head of Department during this period. Previously he held the position of Lecturer II in Electronic Engineering for four years in the Institute of Technology Tallaght, Dublin, a startup third level college.
Fearghal graduated from Queens University Belfast with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1981 and Ph.D in Electrical & Electronic Engineering in 1986.

  • Dr. Chrys Ngwa, Tyndall National Institute, ICGEE Operations Manager

chrys.ngwa2Chrys joined NMRC (now Tyndall National Institute) as a Post Doctorate Researcher after which left for industry joining S3Group where he worked for 13 years in several design and management positions. Rejoined Tyndall National Institute as Operations Manager for the IRCSET funded International Centre for Graduate Education in Micro and Nano Engineering (ICGEE).
