Call for Applications: ICGEE Research Collaboration (ResCo) Programme
The IRCSET funded International Centre for Graduate Education in Micro- and Nano-Engineering (ICGEE) is pleased to announce the launch of the ICGEE Research Collaboration (ResCo) Programme, which is designed to support researchers working in ICGEE related areas to foster research collaboration with ICGEE member institutions in Ireland and abroad or industry and leading for example, to joint publications. For successful applicants, the programme will provide financial support (or part of) towards the cost of travel and subsistence, during a collaborative research visit. Applications from non-member institutions will also be considered with the proviso that such institutions are willing to participate in the development of the ICGEE National Structured PhD programme.
About ICGEE
ICGEE is a national consortium of third level academic institutions dedicated to developing doctoral level training in micro- and nano-engineering. ICGEE members research areas encompass the design, fabrication and characterisation of electronic, photonic and electro-mechanical micro- and nano- engineering systems. The goal of the ICGEE programme is to develop the academic, administrative, and technical infrastructure required to provide a national graduate education programme relying on resource sharing between academic partner institutions and to deliver the ICGEE graduate training programme to the highest international standards. More details on the ICGEE programme can be found at www.icgee.ie.
Who is eligible?

- is willing to participate in the development of the ICGEE National Structured PhD programme, through participation in ICGEE-related events and activities.
Conditions:
- Applicants should submit a completed ICGEE ResCo "Application Form" at least two months prior to the planned start of the research collaboration period.
- The topic for collaborative research must be directly aligned to those of the ICGEE research programme, i.e., the Design, Fabrication and Characterisation of Electronic, Photonic and Electro-Mechanical Micro- and Nano-Engineering Systems.
- All applications must be supported by the applicant's primary PhD supervisor, and include a formal invitation from the host partner.
- The research collaboration must offer a clear benefit of shared knowledge, expected publication between the collaborating groups, and an indication of how the outcome will contribute towards the applicant's PhD thesis.
- Successful ResCo researchers are required to submit a Research Collaboration report within one month of the completion of the research visit.
- ResCo funded researchers are required to attend the subsequent ICGEE seminar/workshop and to report (presentation or poster) on the outcome of the collaborative research. Candidates will be notified well in advance of the subsequent ICGEE organised seminar/workshop.
- Publications and presentations related to the collaborative research work should acknowledge the support of the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology (IRCSET) and ICGEE.
- The ICGEE Graduate Committee will consider submissions and propose awardees to the ICGEE Executive Committee for consideration. Award levels will reflect the nature of the visit.
- The ICGEE Research Collaboration Programme will not support collaborative research taking place within the applicant's home institution.
- The scholarship cannot be used to support travel to seminars and conferences.
Application Process:
- Download and complete the ICGEE Research Collaboration Programme "Application Form".
- Complete all sections of the application form, sign the completed application form and any relevant support documentation, scan to a single PDF file, and email the submission to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
